Science Fair
The Orange Crescent School Science Fair program is designed to promote the practical application of Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) within the OCS middle school students, and prepare them for a successful educational experience at the high school level. Over the past seven years, OCS students have competed both at the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair (OCSEF: http://www.ocsef.org/) and the California State Science Fair (CSSF: http://www.usc.edu/CSSF/). OCS has even had a student who was selected as a semi-finalist for the Broadcom Masters Challenge, the national science fair competition for middle school. In 2012, OCS was awarded the Outstanding School Award for achieving more awards than any other middle school in Orange County. The OCS Science Fair process begins with informational sessions and coaching in the fall, leading up to the OCS Science Fair in February. Fifteen OCS projects are selected to participate at the OCSEF. Winners from the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair then move on to compete at the California State Science Fair.
